Let’s workout like it is the year of 1866!
Indian Clubs // Kehoe exercise no.15
Have you seen how beautiful Kehoe’s book is from 1866? The book is filled with contemporary drawings from that time and you get a feel of the past!
– Background about this short clip: Lately I’ve been reading in the “The Indian club exercise” book from 1866 by Kehoe. After a while I wanted to swing my Indian Clubs according to the different drawings of swings in the book. As a fun project I’m starting to swing the different exercises. There was of course no Youtube back in the 19th century and it can be very challenging to interpret what the pictures actually depict. Luckily we have the description as well as the drawings.
– How I interpret no15: Exercise no.15 from the book is a fun combination of front circles and back circles!
– How I swing: Avoid colliding the clubs (and practice first with a light club). The clubs cross each other, near the hand, brought around, hands close and cross again. Simply put, do back circles follow by inner circles repeating by switching top hands. In the back circles try have the clubs far enough down to clear the shoulders nicely (my shoulders are unfortunately very tight, otherwise this would be a very beautiful swing).
– Other: This is my own interpretation of the swings.
